7 Days Nairobi and Kigari Safari

Day 1 Nairobi

Arrival at JKIA, Nairobi, and our tour driver will welcome you and transfer you to Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 Nairobi- Kigali - Nyungwe National Park.

Right after breakfast, drive to the airport for a flight to Kigali, Rwanda. Set for Huye for lunch, visit the Rwanda National Museum, and see old Kigali and the craft centre then visit the genocide memorial site. You can tour more and see the new developments in the country especially Kigali and the areas around; it is incredible and interesting with the steps to recovery, a testament to humankind’s survivor. After the city tour depart for Nyungwe National park

Day 3 Nyungwe National Park

After an early breakfast, depart for a hike into Nyungwe Forest in search of chimps. Other species to be found include Columbus monkeys and lots of forest dwelling birds. In the afternoon relax or enjoy optional activities offered by the lodge and the park.

Day 4 Nyungwe National Park - Lake Kivu

Drive to Lake Kivu after breakfast, the largest of all the lakes that fill the valleys of Rwanda. Have boat rides and visit nearby islands.

Day 5 Karongi - Volcanoes National Park (Parc National De Volcans)

After breakfast, relax at the Lake. After lunch drive to Musanze in the northwest of Rwanda, the main base for gorilla trekking. The national park is known as a haven for the mountain gorilla. It is home to five of the eight volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains (Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo), which are covered in rainforest and bamboo

Day 6: Parc National De Volcans-Golden Monkey Trekking

After breakfast, your driver-guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for registration of your Golden Monkey trek. The Golden Monkey is a local sub-species of the widespread Sykes Monkey, also known as the “Blue Monkey” and is endemic to the high altitude forests of the Volcanoes National Park area. At the end of the trek, rejoin your driver-guide for a transfer back to the lodge/hotel/guest house for freshening up and lunch. After lunch, relax in your hotel.

Day 7 Parc National De Volcans - Gorilla Trekking

Have an early breakfast, and transfer to the Park Office for gorilla trekking registration before starting your trek. Your trek starts in the cultivated foothills of the Virunga’s offering stirring views in all directions. Trekkers will be immersed in the mysterious intimacy of the rainforest, alive with the colorful bird calls, chattering golden monkeys, littered with fresh spoor of the mountains’ elusive buffalo and elephant. Weaving through overhanging vines, moss-covered hagenia trees and giant lobelias that thrive in the tropical climate, the experienced trackers who have spent their entire lives in or close to this forest, soon brings you up close with one of the gorilla families.

At the end of the trek, rejoin your driver-guide and drive back to your lodge/hotel for freshening-up and lunch. Later in the afternoon, and after siesta, re-join your driver-guide for a visit of the nearby Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. They are beautiful lakes located at the base of the volcano Muhabura, and close to the border with Uganda.

After taking breakfast, relax at the lodge before driving to Kigali, you will have an opportunity to stop-by the Caplaki Crafts Centre for optional shopping of exquisite Rwandan souvenirs. The Caplaki Crafts Centre is famous for its variety of local Rwandan Arts and Crafts, such as the Agaseke. Proceed to Kigali for a flight to Nairobi.
